ISLAMABAD – A meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was held here on Friday to look into the arrangements and process of preparation for the 2018 general elections.
ECP Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad told the participants that the objective of the commission was to provide a conducive atmosphere and a level-playing field for the next general elections.
A detail insight was given to all the perspectives of the pre-poll arrangements. The committee deliberated over the appointment of the polling staff overall monitoring of the polling process.
The secretary stressed foolproof strategies to be devised in order to reach at the national goal of credible elections in accordance with law. The committee also discussed at length the programme to be adopted for the proper training of the polling staff.
Secretary Muhammad told the participants that the entire energies shall be utilised to organise and conduct, free, fair, impartial, credible and transparent elections in 2018.
