KARACHI: A Doha-bound Indian flight made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday after a passenger complained of a serious health problem.
Sohan Singh, a passenger onboard the Jet Airways flight 9W 202 complained of a serious health problem an hour after the jet took off from New Delhi airport. Following the standard operating procedure, the pilots decided to land the aircraft at Karachi airport.
The aircraft touched down at the Karachi airport runway at 1.57 am. The Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) extended all possible help as per the international obligation and informed the Delhi ATC.
Despite the pilots trying their best, the passenger was declared dead at the hospital. “Out flight 9w 212 of November 7, 2016 from Delhi to Doha was diverted to Karachi due to medical health emergency on board. Since of the guests developed a medical condition, the captain decided to land at the nearest airport, given the emergency.
Medical assistance was duly coordinated prior to the flight’s arrival, however, the guest succumbed on arrival in Karachi,” the Jet Airways stated in a press release. Few moments later, the Jet Airways flight left for its destination.
