ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services, as part of its strides to control prices of veterinary drugs and avoid dependence on imports, has ensured almost 70 per cent of their manufacturing at local level.
The local manufacturing of veterinary drugs is generally encouraged by facilitating processing of drug registration application. Sources at the ministry on Sunday said drug registration application for new manufacturing licenses/new sections were processed on priority.
The sources said all veterinary producers and sellers were encouraged to observe good manufacturing and storage practices for maintaining quality of veterinary drugs, adding that as a result of encouragement almost 70 per cent of registered veterinary drugs were manufactured locally.
Highlighting the steps taken by the government to improve production of veterinary drugs in the country, the sources said the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan Act of 2012 encouraged local production of medicines, including veterinary medicines and vaccines.
