Educational activities in Lahore will resume on September 1, following a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner and Administrator of the District Education Authority Lahore, in line with instructions from the Punjab School Education Department dated August 29.
The order stated that while all schools in the district would reopen, 45 institutions will remain closed. These include schools in flood-affected areas and those being used as flood relief camps.
The list covers several government schools, including Government Girls Higher Secondary School Chung, Government High School Shahdara Mor Farakh Abad, Government Central Model School No. 2 Rattigan Road, and Government High School Mohlanwal Multan Road.
Girls’ primary and model schools in Rangeelpur, Manowal, Qila Tarrar, and Mohlanwal Khurd are also affected.
Institutions under the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) and Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) are included, such as GPS Manga Hittar (PEIMA-PSSP), GPS Mohlanwal Khurd (PEEF), and GPS Jhugian Bajanar (PEEF).
Private schools in Tehsil Raiwind-among them British Grammar School, The Heaven School System, The Stars Education Complex, Dar-e-Arqam Manga Mandi, and Children Paradise-are also listed.
Parents and students have been advised to stay in contact with their respective school administrations for updates. The notification directed all schools to comply with the Punjab School Education Department guidelines.
Copies of the order were circulated to the Secretary of the Punjab School Education Department, CEOs of the District Education and Health Authorities Lahore, and the heads of institutions concerned.
Meanwhile, in the aftermath of recent flood across the district, all public and private sector educational institutions will remain closed from September 1 to 5, 2025.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Saba Ashghar Ali has issued notification here on Sunday.
The decision was taken in pursuance of the Punjab School Education Department’s directive to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.
As educational institutions reopen, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, has directed a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth traffic flow around schools and colleges.
All circle and sector in-charges have been instructed to work in close coordination with school administrations to maintain traffic flow. The traffic wardens will remain present in the field during opening and closing hours to avoid congestion.
The CTO emphasized that only single-line parking will be permitted at dispersal times. The fork lifters will be deployed outside educational institutions to pick vehicles parked wrongly while additional wardens and patrol units will be deployed on major roads and intersections.
School administrations have also been advised to clearly designate pick-and-drop lanes. No street vendors or pushcarts will be allowed outside schools. Furthermore, the Traffic Education Unit will arrange awareness sessions on road safety and traffic laws for students.
CTO Farhan Aslam urged citizens to fully comply with traffic rules, stressing that collective responsibility is essential for an uninterrupted flow of traffic.
